My name is Hayley Groden and I am from the south side of Glasgow. On October 19th, 2006 my life changed dramatically due to an unpreventable tragedy. My son Noah John was stillborn at nine months. This was due to a placental abruption that can be life threatening if not treated immediately, and in the most severe cases healthy babies die. Placental abruptions are an exceptionally rare occurrence where the placenta dislodges itself from the baby, cutting off the oxygen supply and causing severe haemorrhaging in the mother. After delivering two healthy baby boys previously and having easy pregnancies this was a shocking turn of events that nothing could have prepared me for.
Noah was 7 lbs 1 oz and with his thick black hair and beautiful features he is now our inspiration in creating something positive out of something horrifically negative and heart-breaking. Noah's Ark has been created by our close friends and family in order to raise money to fund research into neonatal deaths, raise awareness of the issues surrounding still birth and help other women and families who have also been through the devastating loss of a baby. Our aim is to carry out annual events in memory of Noah to raise as much money as possible. Noah's Ark held its first event in October 2007 and thanks to overwhelming support from friends, family and the local community we successfully raised over £7000. We are continuing to plan events and raise money in any way we can and look forward to your continued support! All money raised goes entirely to SANDS (the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society) and is being used to fund vital research in Glasgow and London. Nothing can help ease the pain of losing a child but the support from Sands has been and continues to be a vital part of our lives as well as to many other bereaved parents. Noah's Ark feels this is most appropriate and we are proud to be giving all money to Sands. If you would like to help please click on the links below to find out about upcoming events.
